Our Approach

ESG is at the core of our operations.

Environment - We contribute to the fight against climate change by investing into key technologies at the center of the energy transition.

Social – We take various measures to foster our employees’ talent and to have a positive impact on the communities we operate in.

Governance - We make continuous efforts to ensure we follow best practice governance approaches.

As of February 2024, Tion received an ESG Risk Rating of 21.1 from Morningstar Sustainalytics and was assessed to be at medium risk of experiencing material financial impacts from ESG factors.

To further increase our positive impact, we have identified three key areas with significant impact potential: environment, people, and partners. In order to address these, we have introduced our Sustainability Framework, composed of three pillars serving as the foundation for the Group’s sustainability strategy.

Our goal is to not only generate increasing amounts of electricity from renewable sources, but to also mitigate potential adverse effects our operations might have on the environment and channel capital into the energy transition in the most capital-efficient way.

Development Goals

We are committed to contribute to the fulfillment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (“SDGs”). By analyzing our contribution to each SDG, we have identified four core SDGs to which we as a Group most substantially contribute to.

The 17 SDGs were developed as part of the United Nations Agenda 2030, which represents a global “footprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.” Each of the 17 SDGs addresses different challenges facing the global community and planet earth today. Every goal in turn includes a set of subgoals, all of which need to be accomplished in order for a SDG to be considered completed by 2030. The SDGs present the new set of global development goals and are the successors to the Millennium Development Goals.

Sustainability Targets

Reduce Emissions to Revenue Ratio by 25% compared to the base year 2020

We aim to reduce our emissions to revenue ratio by 25% compared to the base year 2020 by 2023. As a Company operating within the energy transition space and with a significant focus on sustainability and corporate responsibility it is crucial for us to ensure that we reduce our emissions to a minimum to comply with our standards.

Increase share of renewable energy in energy consumption to at least 75% in a first step

As a Company that originated in the renewable energy sector, we are well aware of the various benefits that renewable energy has. Therefore, it is natural for us to aim to maximize the share of renewable energy in our own energy consumption. As the next step we work on increasing it to 75%.

Develop a supply chain management system

The acceleration of globalization dynamics has made supply chains more complex and diversified than ever before. We aim to keep a comprehensive overview of our supply chain and ensure our environmental and social standards are met. To be able to meet this standard we are currently developing a supply chain management system.

Through Deutsche Sporthilfe’s initiative called “Sprungbrett Zukunft”, we offer leading young athletes the opportunity to gain professional experience through internships with flexible working hours to accommodate demanding training schedules, thereby facilitating dual careers. Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe is the largest privately funded sports sponsorship initiative in Germany. Its initiative “Sprungbrett Zukunft” promotes dual careers to clear the path for athletes to have a successful career once they retire from competitive sports. Since 1967 it has successfully supported professional athletes.

Aron's Story

All our deal tombstones and Christmas cards are crafted by manufacturers that employ people supported by the Lebenshilfe Salzburg. Lebenshilfe Salzburg is an organization that provides a broad range of services to persons with learning disabilities in communities throughout the Salzburg region (Austria) where it operates in more than 80 locations. The organization has focused on moving toward more person-centered services, improving the quality of life for persons with learning disabilities, and supporting them to get fully included as citizens with equal rights and opportunities as guaranteed by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. To achieve this, the organization closely cooperates with communities and sensitizes the population and the people in charge to make communities more accessible and inclusive. The organization offers a broad range of training for staff, persons with learning disabilities, and others in specialized and inclusive settings.
